Climate change, food access, and community response in Southeast Michigan

From students: Stephanie, Brenna, Khurram, and David

Our team is working to identify vulnerabilities as a result of climate change in the procurement and distribution of a representative “market basket” of goods in the Southeast Michigan region food system. We hope that our findings will help inform the development of a food system vulnerability assessment tool for stakeholders that can serve as a starting point to improve community resilience. We are just starting this work, and look forward to collaborating with many community stakeholders. Phase one of our project is currently underway and includes a literature review to develop a questionnaire and collect data. Phase two will focus on data analysis, interpretation, and modeling. The vulnerability assessment will be developed during the final phase of our project.
