The Transformative Research in Urban Sustainability and Training (T-RUST) program is founded upon integrated social and physical science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Fostering innovation that will lead to a more sustainable urban environment requires the integration of a multitude of disciplines due to the breadth of concepts that must be understood and applied. Understanding the interactions among the various factors that shape urban systems is critical for the creation of the sustainable cities.
The T-RUST program will train STEM doctoral and masters students to work with local communities, businesses, industries, scientists, and policy makers to understand and address challenges faced in post-industrial urban settings using an interdisciplinary systems approach. Students will emerge from this program with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and shape sustainable urban environments that serve and engage their inhabitants.
